#NYFW

In honor of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion week ending today. It is only appropriate that the first post is a review of fashion week. Over the last seven days almost one hundred shows went occurred. My favorites have been long time idols of mine. Next year I know I'll be at some shows and I can not wait.

Dianne Von-Furstenberg has always been a big name in fashion. She first came on the scene in 1972 with a suitcase filled with jewelry, two years later she introduced the world to her wrap dress. She continued to grow her empire and increase her success. Just recently in 2012 she was named most powerful woman in fashion by Forbes. This year was also a big year, with the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress. DVF's show was on day four of NYFW. Her classic wrap dress can be seen in her current runway designs for Fall/Winter 2014. Her show had a bohemian care free style and vibe running through the entirety of it. Bold graphics spiced up the wrap dress in its classic silk and jersey fabric. DVF also showed patterns on her wool winter jackets, sweaters and dresses. I loved the eye catching patterns and the way they looked so pleasing with the patterned runway. The finale was golden, each model had a gold glowing party dress on. As the models ended the show together dancing on stage and smiling, DVF made her way on the runway as gold confetti shot out of cannons, confirming fashion is all about fun. See all of her runway looks here. See how Dianne is celebrating 40 years of the Wrap Dress Here.

Victoria Beckham has come a very long way as a designer from her times as Posh Spice. This season she pushed her boundaries and it paid off. She continued to keep a clean tailored look for all of her designs, which all were complimented by the stark white runway. She used a very monochrome color palate this season and seemed to want to emphasize femininity with her designs. I cant wait to see what she comes up with next. Regardless, Posh is a killer designer, she can forget all about those Spice Girl days.  Click Here to see her full show on her website.

Everything that came down Tory Burch's runway was complete and pulled together. She adds to the armor type of trend that is in now thanks to Game of Thrones. Her inspiration: the armor her parents have always collected. You can see subtle hints of the trend through her pieces. All her pieces were clean with strong silhouettes and bold embellishments. Michael Kors closes out the week with his show. The first time I remember seeing MK was while watching project runway with my mom. Ever since then I have not only been obsessed with his watches, but also how he is growing as a designer. This year he showed a lot of earth tones in his show. Through warm fur coats, chunky sweaters and a touch of fringe, Kors showed us cold weather can be fashionable. While watching his show, I kept picturing myself walking my dog around Central Park in his outfits. Kors continues his #WatchHungerStop campaign with the World Food Programme. See his entire show and all of the looks here.

Until next time... xoxo J
