Ladies, who can honestly say they enjoy getting fitted for bras? I know I don't. Over spring break I made the dreaded plunge to Nordstroms to go bra shopping. Now don't get me wrong, I love going to Nordies and will go at any chance I get, but the bra shopping on the other hand, not so fun.
To be totally honest, I am a busty girl, I love it and hate it at the same time. I hate it because there are never "cute" or "fun" bras in my size, I feel like I'm stuck with the $80 bras that look like they are for my mom and her friends, not for a young woman out on the prowl. Lets be real, I don't want a guy taking off my shirt to see a granny bra, so not cute. On top of that, while all of my friends are telling me how great and cute the new Victorias Secret bras are, I not only can not relate to it, but laugh to myself because I could never fit into one of those bras. To add a little more humor to the VS issue, I just feel like the cup sizes, are not real, I have a suspicion that what they consider to be a "B" cup is actually an "A" cup. Oh and lets not forget... I do NOT feel like I look like this in the changing rooms trying on bras to find one that fits and is semi-cute.
So instead of giggling into the mirror at myself with a shirt that clearly doesn't fit to begin with... I walk into the Nordies lingerie department and reluctantly find a sales associate. Since I've lost weight I have no idea what my bra size is anymore, which makes my situation even more awkward. Now some petite woman with a european accent is in the changing room with me. I though after she took my measurements that would be the end of us hanging out while I try on bras... apparently I was wrong.
After she measures me she exclaims something along the lines of "oh honey the bra now is too big, too big!" Instead of shooting back at her letting her know my bra doesn't fit, hence why I needed her to measure me, I just smiled and giggled. So, as I am standing in my bra and jeans in the dressing room, she just busts open the door to go and get me some bras to try on. Yes it's great she was going to help me, but at the same time, I did not need the rest of the world (including my mother) seeing my in my bra.
To recap, so far, I have been poked, prodded and measured by a total stranger. All of Nordies, including my mom saw me standing in my bra. But don't worry, it's not over yet. In and out the sales lady comes, with bras of all sorts of colors... oh wait no, only with different kinds of nude and black bras. And to top off the helpfulness of this lady, she stayed in the dressing room, helping put on the bra from behind, adjusting the straps and telling me how it fit compared to others. Yes, some may look at it and think how nice this woman was, and I really do appreciate her help. However, at the same time, it was an uncomfortable situation. Like lady, I can put it on myself and if I have questions, I'll come ask!
I left the dressing room successful in finding one that works well and well no its not that cute but theres not much that I can do about that one. I left feeling almost like I had tried on bikinis in the middle of the winter, during prime fat storage and no shaving time, but thank god it was not THAT bad. Unfortunately in a few months, I'll be going through the same process, maybe then I'll be able to get a cute bra.
There are some upsides to having big boobs and a big bra:
1. I can hold money/credit card in it when I go out
2. I can put my phone in it when I go out
3. I can put gum in it when I go out.
4. I can put the little nip bottles of alcohol in it.
5. low cut top... at a bar... free drinks.
Yeah yeah yeah there are also down sides, but at least I'm not in the itty-bitty-titty committee. The once wise Amanda Bynes once said in She's The Man "Heels are a male invention, designed to make a woman's butt look smaller. And to make it harder for them to run away."
I am still waiting for an explanation like this for bras.

That was a really awkward encounter. One would definitely go crazy, had it happened to them as well! But I think you can just count it as experience. At the very least, you found an efficient sales staff who is very willing to serve you. Plus, you got a pair of intimates that fits you perfectly. Thanks for sharing!
